It’s a Family Affair

When engineer Paul Scourfield and his colleague Mike Griffiths found out they had a shared passion for gin, Rockfield Spirits was born. They started experimenting with botanicals and cooking up their version of the perfect dry and pink gin just minutes away from Paul’s air conditioning business near the centre of Hereford.

Never doing things by halves, they decided to not only open a fully equipped distillery on the site of a former cider mill 10 minutes’ walk from the historic city of Hereford, but also to design the perfect room for Gin Tasting and Making Experiences to let people into the secrets of the distilling process. Rockfield Spirits is a real hidden gem where you can spend an entertaining evening drinking and learning about different types of gin and how it is produced.

As the business has grown, Sarah, Paul’s wife has come on board to run the business so that Paul and Mike can concentrate on the distilling process. 

Sarah, a former head at a local Herefordshire school is loving meeting lots of different people at the Gin Tasting and Gin Making Experiences and is looking forward to introducing more people to the magic of Rockfield Spirits’ gin at Herefordshire food festivals over the summer.

“When Paul first mentioned opening a gin distillery, I thought he might have gone a bit mad but it was obvious how passionate he is about Rockfield Spirits and it has been really exciting seeing everything coming together,” said Sarah, Rockfield Spirits Co-Founder.

“I’ve loved meeting so many different people at our first Gin Tasting and Gin Making Experiences.  We’ve had people celebrating their Anniversary, hen parties and birthday celebrations so far and I’m looking forward to helping people celebrate plenty more special occasions.”

“We’ll be putting something special together for our first Christmas party season.  I love Christmas so it will be great to open our doors to groups from work colleagues to friends, so a Christmas get together with a difference.”

The family connection doesn’t stop there, Paul and Sarah’s daughter, Amy, has been helping them to tell everyone about Rockfield Spirits on social media and with plenty of news still to come, she’s going to be busy over the coming months.
